Ok girls, let’s talk trans-seasonal dressing. We are well into Autumn, which is one of the trickiest seasons to navigate for any fashionista.
One minute the temperature has plummeted and an icy wind’s blowing and you’re reaching for thermals, and the next minute, the sun is shining and you need to strip down to a singlet and shorts.
The single most important word here is layering – master the art and you’ll sashay your way into winter with aplomb.
A couple of wardrobe staples that will take you far include a dress – like the Forever New one I wore to church today – and a great pair of leggings (or 10!). These faux-leather leggings entered my wardrobe last winter and have been on high rotation ever since.
A dress with short sleeves is extremely versatile as you can pop a long top underneath when you need an extra layer. If you’re not keen on leggings under it, you could opt for pantyhose or a smart pair of pants – a look made de rigueur by high-end designers recently.
You’re only limited by your imagination with what you do to polish the look – try playing with belts, scarves, hats and jewellery; pop on a fabulous pair of heels or boots, and rug up with a classic jacket or coat. After church, I traded the metallic court shoes for a pair of black booties and I was ready to burn off energy with my boys while still earning fashionista kudos! And now you’re Looking Good Girls.
