I’m dedicating today’s post to a precious friend, Deanne ‘Dea’ Davis, who went to heaven to be with her loving heavenly father on Wednesday night after a long battle with cancer.
Dea was just 35 years old, a loving wife to Andy, and mother to a terrific five-year-old boy Max. She was beautiful inside and out and always had a smile, despite the pain and anguish she endured.
Dea touched countless hearts with her courage and upbeat nature – she was a truly inspirational friend. I know without a doubt she is in her eternal home, free and happy. For those of us grieving her, she has left us with a legacy to live our best life, to savour every blessed moment and create happy memories.
Dea shared my love of fashion – she enjoyed putting outfits together and always looked amazing. With a mix of sadness and joy, today I put on a pair of Wittner heels I bought while we were having a blast together, up to our eyeballs in clothes and shoes at a friend’s house.
Dea revelled in colour, florals and patterned prints. At her memorial service yesterday – which was totally packed out and indicative of her loving and thoughtful nature – she got the last word in fashion! She wanted us to wear colour at this celebration of her well lived life. I wore this Hunt No More leather jacket with red jeans.
If you think sequinned pants are only for the bravest fashionistas, think again. Top French designer Isabel Marant is set to release a capsule collection, which includes sequinned pants, at H&M stores and copy-cat styles are sure to flood local shops.
Dea’s zest for life was supernatural and has helped release more joy into my life, and I hope it can do that for you too. Last weekend she sent me a message that I was on her heart and she was praying for me! That sums up the kind of girl she was. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25.
