I’m nearly always banging on about bargains but when it comes to investment pieces for your wardrobe, it’s important to spend up as big as you can (and I’m all for using cash not credit so you don’t overspend).
These knee-high black leather boots are a great example. I picked them up at Wittner a few years ago for a few hundred dollars (actually I talked hubby into buying them for my birthday) and they have been worth every cent. Not only have they defied the crazy-fast fashion cycles to remain on-trend, they are still in brilliant shape and condition.
The boots may have longevity but I’m not sure the same will apply to this faux-leather Caroline Morgan skater skirt; fortunately, it only cost me $10! When it comes to fast-moving trends, your best bet is to hunt down the bargains. However, the same does not apply for wardrobe staples such as a great pair of designer jeans, stunning coats, a gorgeous dress or a classic leather skirt. My wardrobe is brimming with bargains that I quickly tire of but the big investment pieces – namely leather jackets, coats, and great heels and boots – have been going the distance for many years.
Just saw the very funny chick flick The Other Woman and the star, Cameron Diaz, was wearing a gold chain bangle similar to this Lovisa one, which I scored last year for $3! The clothes she wears in the movie are divine, and it’s worth a look just to see how she’s been styled!
The vintage belt and studded tank add attitude to this ensemble, while the long fur-lined jacket fuses it together with elegance.
My life may look all polished, as many people’s lives on facebook tend to, but let me tell you a 10-storey building has crashed on top of us! Just when you thought things couldn’t possibly get worse, hubby’s BMW sports car has decided to die – it won’t start and is about to be delivered to the mechanic on a tow truck. Valley experiences are necessary to fully appreciate the view from the mountain top but they aren’t much fun. Yes they build character and impart perseverance, endurance and empathy for others, but at times it feels a lot like getting kicked in the guts. We’ve had a very long, hard slog and I’m busting for it to end so I can shout victory from the highest peak!
I hope your journey is one to savour! And now you’re Looking Good Girls.
