I experienced the erosion of free speech in this country during an email conversation with Fox FM’s Matt & Jo show last night.
While expressing my opposition to same-sex marriage on their facebook page I was told by the program manager that my comments were “nasty” and would “not be tolerated”, and would be removed. All I said was “thank goodness” for the Abbott Government, and that I don’t want my sons growing up in a country that legalises same-sex marriage. I might have hit a few nerves with the comment that our laws should not be changed based on something I believe to be an addiction, and not a genetic pre-disposition, as some people believe.
But their reasoning for removing my opinion was laughable, given they published comments from someone calling our Prime Minister a “prick”. Isn’t that nasty? It’s certainly disrespectful in my book.
Enough about politics!
It was cold enough to pull out the raspberry fur today. And because I’m feeling like such a rebel, I toughened the look with faux-leather leggings and studded booties – a replica of the four-figure Chloe ones. I also sent my youngest son to school in his winter uniform (brave little man was the only one breaking the rules!). I’m all for rules and respect authority but he has a cold, and is feeling the cold, so sometimes common sense has to prevail. Besides, his teacher promised to turn a blind eye!
And it would be a dull day indeed without a bit of sparkle! Even though my world is falling apart at the seams and the stress is monumentally high, I couldn’t help digging deep for a bit of va-va-voom.
I’ve just been given a no to work on the television series Offspring next week but on the plus side, I sold a sexy Mink Pink faux-leather skirt on eBay! The chips are down but I’m gonna keep climbing. I hope you guys are having a better week than me . . . and now you’re Looking Good Girls!
